ESSENTIAL BURMA (MYANMAR)
(9 Days/ 8 Nights)
DAY 1 YANGON
Arrival transfer to the hotel for overnight. Full day touring in
Yangon includes magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda; a towering landmark of
Yangon, Chaukhtatkyi; a colossal reclining Buddha, Karaweik Hall; a
royal barge on the Kandawgyi Lake, Na tional Museum which depicts
the history and the culture of Myanmar
DAY 2 YANGON-BAGAN 
Transfer to the airport for departure to Bagan by A.M flight and
transfer to the hotel for 2 nights. Continue visit to Nyaung-Oo
Market, Shwezigon Pagoda; a solid cylindrical structure that forms
the prototype of Myanmar Stupas, Kyansittha Umin; a tunnel with an
interesting feature of paintings, Wetkyi-in Gyhbytiukkyi Temple with
fine mural paintings of Jataka scenes, Hitlominlo Temple; a double
storied structure known for its frieze and pilaster molding and
Archaeological Museum.
In the afternoon visit to Ananda Temple, which contains Gothic
Arches and stone sculptures of exquisite workmanship, Ananda
Okkyaung; a brick monastery with 18th century mural paintings,
lacquer-ware industry, Myinkaba Gubyaukkyi; an early style temple
with mural paintings, Manuha Temple with gigantic Buddha images; a
representation for the physical discomfort and mental distress of
the captive King of Thaton; Nanpaya, an early style temple with the
finest stone carvings, Mingalazedi Pagoda; the last stupa built
before the Mongols invasion and sunset at Bupaya Pagoda; standing on
the bank of the Ayeyarwady River.
DAY
3 BAGAN-MT. POPA
Morning visit nearby Mt, Popa about 60km southeast of Bagan, an
extinct volcano and a lot of shrines dedicated to animistic spirits
known as TSTats'. You can climb Mt. Popa by a covered walkway to
reach the complex of pagodas at the summit.
Afternoon sightseeing tours in South Eastern and Southern part of
Bagan featuring between 11th and 13th century temples. Nandamanya,
Thambula and Laymyetna, noted for their fine mural paintings,
Payathonzu with mural paintings of Mahayanist character; Sulamani
and Damayangyi, a massive temple with the finest brickwork. East and
West Petleik Pagodas with interesting terra-cotta plaques and
Lawkananda; a Pyu-style on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy River.
DAY
4 BAGAN-MANDALAY
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Mandalay by A.M flight and
continue tour includes ancient capital Amarapura; 11 Kilometres
south of Mandalay, Highlight; Bagaya monastery with a famous
collection of Buddha images and Buddhist's scriptures on palmleaves,
Mahagan dayon monastery; one of the largest monasteries and 1.2
kilometres long U Bein Wooden Bridge. Afternoon drive over Inwa
Bridge across the Ayeyarwady River to picturesque Sagaing Hill; a
retreat for Buddhist devotees with numerous pagodas and monasteries,
visit silversmith workshop and pottery. Transfer to the hotel in
Mandalay for 2 nights.
DAY
5 MANDALAY-MINGUN
Morning excursion to Mingun, 11 Kilometres upriver from Mandalay on
the western bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River, home of the largest
intact bell in the world-as well as unfinished pagoda sometimes
described as the biggest pile of bricks on earth and Myatheindan
Pagoda; one of the prettiest pagodas inMyanmar. A 45 minutes boat
trip to Mingun is very pleasant with plenty of life on the river to
see. Shwe Inbin monastery, an excellent specimen of Myanmar wooden
architecture.
Mandalay afternoon tour to famous Mahamuni Pagoda, traditional
handicraft workshops: gold leaves hammering, marble and
wood-carvings. Shwenandaw Monastery, fine specimen of Myanmar
wood-carving, Kuthodaw Pagoda; known as the World's Biggest Book as
well as the World's heaviest Book for its marble stabs of Buddhist
scriptures, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda; a large Buddha image carved out of a
single block of marble.Sunset at Mandalay Hill.
DAY
6 MANDALAY-HEHO-PINDAYA
Transfer to the airport for departure flight to Heho by A.M flight
and proceeding to Pindaya, a small quiet town about 11/2 hr drive
from Heho. By driving along one can enjoy a great scenic beauty of
the country side. Highlight; Pindaya Cave, well-known for its
countless Buddha images in different sizes. Transfer to the hotei
for overnight.
DAY 7 PINDAYA-INLAY LAKE
It takes two and half hours drive to Nyaung Shwe and excursion to
Inlay Lake, famous for its unique leg-rowers and scenic beauty. Tour
Highlight; Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, wonderful floating gardens, floating
market, native method of fishing, weaving village of Inpawkhon and
village life on the lake. Transfer to the hotel for overnight.
DAY
8 HEHO-YANGON
Transfer to the airport for departure flight to Yangon.
Afternoon tour includes Bogyoke Aung San Market; famous shopping
center in Myanmar, Kaba Aye (World Peace) Pagoda, Maha Passana Guha
Cave where the sixth Buddhist Synod took place.
Proceed to Botataung Pagoda; a famous landmark of Yangon's
waterfront, Maha Bandoola Park with Independence Monument, Sule
Pagoda; a beautiful octagonal golden stupa in the heart of the city.
Arrival transfer to the hotel for overnight.
DAY 9 YANGON
Transfer to Yangon Airport for the departure flight.
